Some Sewing

I've gotten a chance to do some sewing...Finally!

I had a really long dry spell where I didn't want

to be in our lower level, so far away from DH.

I've been very anxious & hovering over him for

the past 8 months, since his attack.

He is doing pretty good these days so I'm beginning

to relax a bit & let him out of my sight a little. ;-)

This dress is for my DGD, Caroline.

(
side view showing the growth tucks)

This technique allows you to let down a dress

when the child has grown in height & enables

you to get a few more years of use from it.
It was made using Sara Norris' new pattern,

"Irby"

I'm not thrilled with how my gathers in the ruffles
turned out & I may take that section off & re-do them.
I think they should be MORE *ruffley*

That is, if I can get her to take it off long enough!

Talk about a 'whirling dirvish' ...LOL

This is a wonderful twirling dress.

It really should be made out of a lighter

weight fabric than what I used

but I had fallen in love with this

Stonehill Collection of cottons.

Sara shows it done in a fine, lightweight batiste.

My next one will be better.

Princess Caroline had just gotten out of the shower &

we were having a "fitting" of all the clothes

I had recently made for her.

Thanks & Hugs to Sara, for creating such a fun little dress.

You can tell it was a hit!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by

the Gazebo House today.

If you have a minute & are so inclined,

Sara could use some prayers & words

of encouragement.

Her Mom is in failing health & it

is weighing heavy on Sara's heart.

  4. What an adorable dress ... and grand daughter! I can see why you chose those fabrics ... charming. Glad to hear your husband is doing well. My DH had a heart attack (age 47) in '95. He'll be 62 this month and feels better now than he ever did.

  9. I love the fabric combination - it is so feminine! The idea of the grow tucks is great - how I wish that some of my daughter's favorite dresses had had something like those. Princess Caroline is so very lucky to have a grandmother who can sew like a dream!

  12. I do LOVE those fabrics. They really make the design pop. I think the ruffles are fine. Sometimes too much ruffle can get too heavy, and it sure looks like she doesn't care. LOL She's a doll!
