My Smocking Friend’s Tables

Nicoles for smock & talk 004

I completely forgot that I wanted to share

with you my smocking friend's beautiful Valentines Day tablescapes!

You don't mind seeing them a little late, do you?

Nicole & I gather to smock & sew once a week, along with several other very talented women, who willingly share their ideas, tips & projects.

I happened to have my camera in the car with me

when we met at Nicole's lovely home in February &

she graciously allowed me to photograph her pretty settings.

Nicole is blessed to have inherited some GORGEOUS antiques,

this pair of candlesticks being some of them.

I am head-over-heels in ♥♥♥ with her beautiful dining room!

Swoon!

Nicoles for smock & talk 021

Her exquisite wedding china is the Lenox pattern,

Monroe from their Presidential series. *sigh*

The burgundy & black bands of color are accented

with gold twisted rope patterns around the rims.

Her crystal stemware, another wedding gift,

is Waterford's Castlemaine pattern.

She has TWO of these gorgeous antique

Imperial Acanthus Leaf carnival glass compotes.

(check out that pretty bolster pillow in the background that she made)

This hammered metal serving tray is from

a well known local artist, Don Drum.

I have a few of his pieces & must remember

to photograph them to share with you soon.

None of mine are as pretty as this one, though!

I love how Nicole used her little shaped

place card holders to display words from Corinthians 13:4.

And lastly, get a load of these desserts!!!

Aren't they wonderfully yummy looking??

She also made individual little martini glasses of chocolate mousse &

attached a shaped cookie to the side of each glass.

CUTE!!

Thank you, Nicole, for letting me share your beautiful home!

    1. Hi Diane,

Smocking is a method of first, putting tiny little accordian pleats into a swatch of fabric by running it through a "pleater" machine. Then tiny little decorative stitches are taken across the tops of those pleats to make a design & to hold them together.

You can see my pleater & a nightgown that I made for my granddaughter here:

      Thanks for asking!

  5. I'm pretty much swooning over her dining room too. I'm in a swoon over her table as well. I absolutely love the way she used her place card holders. I'm pinning that so I don't forget such a good idea.

  6. Oops. Well, I guess I'm not pinning. I'll just have to remember it. I'll count on the dark roots to remind the blond hair.

  12. You get together to smock! I didn't even know people did that anymore. In fact, I wonder how many people know what smocking is.

  15. Hey, Rett! I'M in love with her dining room, too! Wow! So pretty...and spacious, too! I'm thinking that table can fit 10? Our dining room is just so teensy, and with the Mission style table we have, we can only get 6 in there. I'm determined to get a table that will allow for at least 8. I LOVE that china!!!!!!! That really does look presidential! It's beautiful! So many pretty touches to make this a special table!

  16. Her china is just gorgeous, very presidential indeed.
A sweet table,it must be a lot of fun to meet with the gals. All my friends leave for FL, so no one around till May!
Thanks for sharing at Let's Dish! Now start thinking about the challenge!
So if you reply to me here, will that reply get emailed to me???

    1. I don't think so. I've had several people "reply" to me on their blogs & it has never come to me via email. It just seems to keep the conversation going on the thread & other people can chime in, too, if they want to talk to the person making the comment.
