♫♥♫♥ Cherry Cheesecake ♫ ♥♫♥

cherry cheesecake 005 label

This is a really simple & delicious cheesecake/pie that you can make for any special occasion.  It is full of fat & sugar, which is what makes it so Sinfully DELICIOUS, so it is a rare treat at our house.  I haven't made it in years but wanted to share it with you, in case you needed an easy, tasty dessert to make for friends & family on Valentines Day.

There are only 6 things you need to have...

1 graham cracker crust
1 med. box of Dream Whip, (2 envelopes)
1 block ( 8 oz.) of cream cheese
1 can of cherry pie filling, (21oz.)
1 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup    1/3 Cup milk (NOT skim milk) *SEE EDIT BELOW*

Place the block of cream cheese in the bowl of your electric mixer & allow it to come to room temperature.

Add the milk & sugar & both envelopes of Dream Whip to the room temperature cream cheese.

Mix slowly to incorporate then whip at highest speed until smooth.

Pour into graham cracker crust.
Top with 1 can of cherry pie filling
Chill for several hours

It will be a softer cheesecake than the one you bake but if chilled long enough, it will slice nicely.  I usually make it early in the morning of the day I want to serve it.  The graham cracker crust might get a little soggy overnight.

*EDIT:  I just cut into the pie tonight & it is SUPER soft & not holding its shape very well at all.    Perhaps it was the skim milk I used?  Whatever!  I strongly suggest you decrease the amt. of milk to just 1/3 cup!
I'm sure that I never used skim milk all those years ago when I made it.  That's what I get for trying to cut calories!

Oh &  because B.J. over at Sweet Nothings says to do it, this time, I added just a titch of almond flavoring (that's just a few drops) to the whipped cream cheese mixture.  The recipe doesn't call for it but I love almond with cherry ANYTHING!
Thanks for the tip, B.J.

♥♥ I hope you Enjoy it!  ♥♥

    1. I know it will be a hit for you, Cherry Kay! I added the following to the recipe: I usually make it in the morning of the day that I want to serve it. It needs to chill really well. In fact, I might even suggest you cut back on the amt. of milk just a titch, so as to have it not be so soft & it will cut & serve better. I do hope you try it!

  4. This was so popular back in the '60's and I haven't seen the recipe in years. It was so exciting back then to have convenience foods like this so we could easily put together a delicious dessert. That canned cherry pie filling is making my mouth water...LOL.

    1. Don't use skim milk, if you try making it, Kathryn. It made it too soft & it wouldn't cut nicely. I should not have tried to cut calories!

  6. Our youngest son's favorite cheesecake is the no bake version, Rett. The one I make is a little different in that it has sweetened condensed milk and lemon juice. I'll have to try yours next. So many of the easy versions are the tastiest! Happy weekend to you.

  8. I used to make this for my kids when they were little...do they even sell Dream Whip now? I guess I will have to see if I can find it. Have a great weekend, Rett.

  9. For many years Cherry Cheesecake was my birthday dessert of choice! My mother's recipe uses Eagle Brand milk -- and no Dream Whip -- but it's very similar to yours. I haven't had it in years, but that might just need to change! Thanks for the memories ... and have a wonderful weekend! :-)
