Lemon Pull-Aparts

valentines decor 024

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I ♥♥♥ lemon!

When I saw these luscious "Lemon Pull-Aparts" on Creations by Kara's

blog, I knew, right away, that I had to try them.

They were SOOOO easy!

Lemon Pull-Aparts

Rolls:

12 Rhodes dinner rolls, thawed but still cold
zest of 1 lemon
1/2 cup sugar
3 Tbsp butter, melted

Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 Tbsp lemon juice

Directions:

Cut rolls in half and place in a greased 9×13" pan.

Drizzle with the melted butter.

Mix lemon zest and sugar together in a small bowl.

Sprinkle HALF of the lemon sugar mixture over the rolls.

Cover and let raise till doubled.

Sprinkle remaining sugar mixture on top.

Bake at 350º for about 20-25 minutes.

Remove from pan. (I didn't do this...BIG mistake!)

Combine glaze ingredients.

Drizzle over rolls while still warm.

Enjoy!

Just hot out of the oven.

Here is where I made my mistake.

I left them in the pan to cool.

WRONG!!

The sugar/lemon mixture hardens as it cools &

it was like cement, holding down those yummy little treats.

I drizzled the sugar/lemon glaze over them right in the dish.

It was a real struggle to pry those puppies out, but I somehow managed!

They were full of wonderfully lemony sweet goodness &

worth all the extra effort to get them loose.

If YOU make them, just follow the directions & you'll be fine.

  2. I'm saving this in my file of recipes to go with my yellow themed year. (Lemon... yellow...) Thanks for the tip about not letting them cool in the pan.

  4. Rett, Those look delicious and easy too. I recently made a cake that was supposed to be removed from the pan after 10" and I didn't; that, too, was a big mistake! My cranberry poppyseed pound cake was delish but not pretty! I have a lemon poppyseed bread that I've made twice recently (I'm on a poppyseed kick lately having made lemon ps bread, blueberry ps bread, the cake, and a glazed ps bread) - oh, but back to my point. You would love the lemon ps bread! Have a wonderful wknd!

  6. Those look wonderful, Rett. I have everything in the recipe, including the frozen dinner rolls (not Rhodes, as we don't have that brand, but I hope it's similar). I am getting the rolls out of the freezer as soon as I post this, and have already printed the recipe. Lemon is TGD's favourite flavour so it will be a hit! Thank you!

  10. Rett, these looks so wonderful. I must try them. They would be lovely for Easter, don't you think? Next time you get a stuck pan try putting it back in the hot oven for a few minutes to loosen it back up. It usually works.

  14. Hi Rhett, Those look so yummy and I just finished eating supper which is a little late for us, but we didn't have lunch until 2 O'clock. Your food pictures always make me hungry. My daughter and daughter-in-law both love to cook so I am sure that one of them would make the recipe for me. It is so hard to cook just for two and especially with one who doesn't want to eat after you get it fixed. Have a wonderful weekend. Your Missouri Friend.

  19. Rett,
Now I need to find Rhodes Dinner Rolls. Those look scrumptious! I enjoyed looking at your sewing project slideshows. You are amazing. I am in a knitting phase right now but have some sewing projects I hope to do before I go back. We are having wonderful weather and that helps with arthritis!
