few days after her official 6th birthday.
I like to make each grandchild feel special by hosting a little celebration
dinner with their favorite foods.
(She requested drumsticks from KFC)
We ate in the tiled sunroom area of the kitchen.
Clean up is very easy here so both the children & I can relax.

I found these cute placemats at the Dollar Tree
as well as the matching polka-dot plates to go with them.
T. J. Maxx last year.
This was the one she chose, with the heart on top.
White cups & saucers are from the Home Collection at J.C. Penney.
I thought the bead like border repeated the polka-dot effect somewhat.

I don't like to use open flames when the children are visiting.
Safety first!
I forgot to take a photo with them lit…
it got a little hectic around dinner time!
sorted out the colors to match the table.
(I have lots of red-white & blue
left over for July 4th)
added a lace & PINK ribbon border between the two colors.
giant chocolate chip cookies.
Thank you, Carol (aka Mamacjt) for this fun
cookie making pan!
The cookies didn’t last as the centerpiece very long at all.
I think DGS, Charlie, ate several before I finished taking pictures.

It was warm in the kitchen & my frosting was a little too soft

I've never met a cupcake I didn't like!

Be sure to stop by her beautiful blog that day
to see other participants in the party!
Thank you, Susan, for hosting this fun event each week
& thank you to all of you who visit the Gazebo House!
Oh & my finger that I sliced on the mandolin
is almost completely healed.
It is still tender to type but is much better already.
Thanks for all the sympathy...it really helped!

Rett, Caroline's birthday celebrtion table is darling. Perfect for a sweet little girl like Caroline. Love the pink and green combo! Your Dollar Store has far better offerings than ours. I rarely find anything cute. I laughed at the gum balls. I just did the same thing and took out all the red, white, and blue to put in the biscuit barrell. Great minds!
ReplyDeleteGlad your finger is better! ~ sarah
Hey Fingers, how are you doing? :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are healing!

Caroline's table is a pure delight to behold! I can't believe you found the placemats and plates at Dollar Tree -- I'd seen some similar ones from Paula Deen in a department store (and they were many, many times what you paid, even on sale!). The view from your sunroom area window is stunning, and so are your bright, crisp, clear photographs!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, Rett!
Hope you and yours have an enjoyable weekend.
Warmest regards,
Bill

She must've had such a wonderful time with her friends at her Nana's, and everything was so preaty. Don't you just love the adorable bargains you can get at TJM?
ReplyDeleteMany, many years ago, I had a tea party b-day for my now 27 year old daughter, and I made petit fours. We had such fun! I now look forward to parties for our 3 grands.
