SewNso's having her first Party!!

My dear sewing friend, Laurie, aka "SewNso" author of both Southern Stitches & Brer Rabbit Designs

is having her very first linky party!

The theme is "the spirit of Christmas past".

Won't you please join her by linking up to a blog post about something

handmade & from a Christmas past?

It doesn't have to be heirloom clothing, although that is her specialty &

I bet we're going to see some real treasures tomorrow.

Laurie is a regular contributor to Sew Beautiful magazine & has some gorgeous heirlooms & does beautiful handmade clothing, especially smocked items.

She has made numerous tutorials available on her site to teach you how to
do both regular & picture smocking as well as piping & other sewing techniques.

She helped me learn to picture smock even though I don't LIKE doing it.
*wink*

This is a Childrens Corner Mary De pattern for a back wrap pinafore
done in the smocking plate
Charlie's Christmas Trees.

I made it for DGD Caroline in 2008.
Lots of mistakes but I learned a great deal in the process, too
and she loved it, which is what counts the most.

I made this little black corduroy jumper for her to wear to a Christmas play
It is from the Martha Pullen pattern in her applique book.

It has peppermint striped piping & buttons from my Mom's button jar.
The peppermint pockets are free standing machine embroidery
designs by Reen at Embroidery Garden.

Above is a quilted tablecloth that I made from a FL friend's leftover Christmas fabric.
I keep it on my big glass table in my sewing room all of December & think of her often.
I used machine embroidered snowflakes as part of the quilting on this.

I had fun using a Daisy Kingdom border fabric to make this little dress from a New Look pattern.
Lots of piping & removable bows.

This was a fun trip down memory lane!
Thanks for hosting this great idea for a party, Laurie.

I'm always so surprised to see how fast Ms. C. has grown.
It makes me want to sew as fast as I can before she tires of
Nana's creations.

Won't you please pop on over to Laurie's site & see what else is handmade?

I just know we're in for a treat!

"Merry Christmas" from The Gazebo House!

I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season, full of treasured heirlooms

& maybe a few handmade items

... COOKIES count as handmade, right Laurie?!
