Cathy, author of the terrifically tasty blog,

recently made David Lebovitz' cookies from his book,
Ready for Dessert.
I love that name, but don't you think it
should have had a question mark after the title?
How many times do we say
"Ready for dessert?"

I was asked to babysit my *grandkidlets* twice this past week &
since I always try to bring a treat when I visit,
I decided to try the recipe out on them.
You can find it here
(published with permission)
They laugh when I tell them
"I need some guinea piglet taste testers!!!"
Ms. C. doesn't care for nuts, so I made half the batch without nuts &
then added them to the second half for the boys to devour.
They sure did!
Good thing I left a couple at home for DH,
otherwise he never would have gotten to taste them!
They are DELICIOUS...very, very crisp, just the way we like them.
I'm sure it is from all that luscious BUTTER!!!
The only mistake I made was to
use Ghiradelli® Milk Chocolate Chips.
Sadly, their flavor was not "chocolatey" enough for me.
I should have followed the recipe as written,
but I'm not a fan of bittersweet chocolate so I
thought I'd try the milk chocolate.
Next time, I'll use semi-sweet morsels.
You can be sure, I WILL BE MAKING THESE AGAIN!!

I love crisp cookies... Not chewy soft. This sounds like my kind of cookie.
ReplyDeleteI like crisp cookies too and haven't made chocolate chip in a while-looks great:@)
ReplyDeleteRett, those sure look good. Thanks for sharing the source for the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI'm a chewy cookie girl, but my husband loves a crispy one. He says they melt in the mouth better, and these look like mouth melters.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing, Rett, bake some with nuts and some without. This is my favorite chocolate chip recipe and I'm not surprised it passed the g-kids taste test. Your photos is beautiful BTW. Thanks so much for the link love.
ReplyDeleteOh My, these look delightful.
ReplyDeleteI need to diet again, however there are so many wonderful treats out there. Thanks for sharing.
Those look great, Rett, and your food photography is stunning!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Beth
Oh, what I wouldn't give to have a few of those right now. Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThose chocolate chip cookies look delicious! Rett, thank you for your sweet comments, follow and for posting my give-away in your sidebar.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes!
~Wendy
Oh, those cookies look delicious! Hope you have just one left over for me! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be waiting to see your fallness!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Yummy! Now, I just had my morning coffee and these would have been great with that. Lol. Thanks for sharing the recipe, I know your grandchildren loved them.. hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteRett,
ReplyDeleteI have a fondness for chocolate chip cookies! I'm going to try these.
Pat
Here it is, 1 AM, Rett, and my mouth is watering... I will surely come back for this recipe! I like that you stacked them on the plate for your picture.
ReplyDeleteYour cookies look delicious! I can just see those boys gobbling them up! I use the semisweet morsels and I like the way they taste. I have a SIL who doesn't care for nuts, so over the years I have gotten used to doing half and half baking for any of the family gatherings. It's a small thing I can do to keep everyone happy.
ReplyDeleteI am always looking for good cookie recipes so I will have to give this a go. Thanks for sharing the recipe and I adore your amazing pictures. Your photography is so professional!
ReplyDeleteThanks also for your very kind offer to mail ingredients to me! That is truly one of the nicest things anyone has offered! It is Spring break here (starting tomorrow-yippee!) so I will see what I can find and try to make it with the kids.
Congratulations also on your happy news. You will have 14 grandchildren? That is just wonderful!
Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the rest of the week.
Blessings and best wishes,
Natasha.
Hi Rett,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you stopped by my blog and so glad to have you following.
I just love your header, that is a beautiful photo.
These cookies sound so good, I'd eat a plate of them right now for breakfast if they were here! We like mixing 1/2 milk chocolate and 1/2 semi sweet chips. You might try that sometime...seems to be a perfect meet. I think sometimes the milk chocoloate, alone, gets a little lost in the mix. Anyway...just a thought that might work for you since you don't like the semisweet as much.
I see some other recipes I've got to go look at on your link within widget so I'm going to do that now.
So nice to meet you!
Nancy
This sounds like my kind of cookie.. thanks so much for sharing this recipe.. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteI will try them, they look delicious. We like a mix, not too crisp, but not mushy either.
ReplyDeleteI made some this week. I am on a quest to find a perfect recipe!
cc cookies are my weakness... who am i kidding, anything with sugar SCREAMS MY NAME!
ReplyDeletehope all is well at your house, with baking and pretty pics, i would say yes :)
OK, can I be one of your grandkidlettes!
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you be a part of Seasonal Sundays.
