Warming up with Irish Coffee

An Old Irish Blessing:

May you always have

Walls for the winds
A roof for the rain
Tea beside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
Those you love near you
And all your heart might desire.

I usually drink tea but my

hubby L♥ve's Irish coffee!

To make it, first you have to get some

good Irish whiskey such as

OR

In Gaelic, its called "Uisce Beatha" which translates into
"Water of Life".Irish whiskey is distilled three times to achieve its smooth, refined flavor.
Kentucky bourbon is only distilled once
and scotch is distilled twice.

Pour about 1 1/2 oz. in the bottom of

an Irish coffee mug.

I won this set of 4 on the beautiful blog,

Thank you, Michael Lee!

I love them!!

I'm joining the other participants

of her

Fill the cup with strong, hot coffee.

Add a wee bit of sugar, if you like

but leave some room for ...

A dollop of whipped cream!

I also put a GREEN maraschino

cherry on top

but it sank

before I could snap the photo.

So I put another one on top.

It sank, too.

Let's just say hubby was very surprised to

find those treats at the bottom.

I've got decaffeinated, sugar-free

chai tea in my pretty cup.

I how the camera captured the

sunlight & the steam

inside the glass!

Sláinte!

(Gaelic for "Health!")

Pronunciation: Slaw-in-tche

Thank you again, Michael!

I hope to see all of you at Cuisine Kathleen's

2nd Annual St. Patrick's Day Party

March 16th

I'll be there with even MORE

GREEN to share!

I just have regular coffee with lots of whipped cream, lol..good calcium.
Do you remember when Jameson's used to have a poetry contest every year in March? I entered a few times, never won any money, just certificates saying I was a fine Irish poet, LOL..I could line the bird cage with that bit of blarney!
I never thought of the green cherry!

  2. Rett, I'm so happy for you that you won the glasses! YEA! :-)

This really looks good. I didn't know that about whiskey versus bourbon versus Scotch. Sounds like the Irish whiskey is definitely the best!

Sending you lots of green hugs for a Happy FF...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  16. Rett, first, congratulations on winning those wonderful glasses. They are perfect for these drinks. Like your husband, I love a good Irish coffee in the winter. I made myself several this past winter. Such a perfect drink! But you have to add lots of whipped cream to make it special. Which of course I did. LOL
Looking forward to more of your green posts. Love the green Rettabug at the bottom of the blog. And that green cherry...too cute.
