I'm joining Linda at Coastal Charm today for her first
Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays
a meme to show off our bargain purchases.
I found this large faux wreath at Home Goods
in the after Christmas sales aisle.
It was a little banged up but the price was right.
It started out at $80!
No way would I pay that for it,
even if it was in perfect condition!
Then it was marked down to $39.99.
Next it was reduced to $18.00.
I seriously considered buying it
at this price but I passed on it.
Next visit to HG, it was on the 1/2 off sale rack!
Woo-Hoo! SOLD...to me for $9!!

Its a LARGE wreath,
22" across & on a heavy 3-wire frame.

As I said, it had a few bare spots but extra pieces
were pulled out & glued into position to cover those.
I also pulled off all those silly looking faux snow covered berries.
They were rusty & yucky looking anyway.

I've been adding some blossoms to
get it ready for Spring.
Not quite finished yet...needs a few more.
I'm also hunting for the perfect ribbon
to make a big bow for it.
Stay tuned for the completion!
As always, thanks for stopping by The Gazebo House &
thanks to Linda for having a fun place to share our special bargains.

Good Morning! You did really good! You were smart to hold back and wait for that wreath to come way down in price. I bet those icky berries caused a lot of people to pass that by. They couldn't "see" the vision of the wreath without the berries. I LOVE your header!! :) :)

That is a wonderful idea. They charge so much for the bigger wreaths. I like what you are adding to it!
ReplyDeleteI love beautiful bargains -- seeing things how they can be and not what they are. Put a big piece of yellow and green gauzy ribbon and that wreath will shout Spring is here!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great wreath re-do! It looks very springy now!
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you that I LOVE your Irish header! Your house is lovely decked out in St Patricks green decor!!
I love your patience waiting for the price to come down. I think I would have grabbed it at half off if I had a vision for it. I agree that the berries were probably a turn off, But it looks beautiful now!! Great job. And your new header is gorgeous!

Patience is a virtue.....one I struggle with. Good for you to wait for such a good price on a wreath! I like what you're doing with it. Hope you post the finished product.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous wreath. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my lamps.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit to my Nifty Thrity post last week. Here it is time for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday again and I'm just now getting around to see what all the participants found. Sheeeeesh! So sorry.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the original price tag on that wreath was $80.00! It was so NOT worth it in its original state but with your magic touch, it is definitely looking like a million bucks now. You did GOOD! Your vision and patience really paid off! :)
