Two Color Tablescape
Holy Crimoli..... Cuisine Kathleen's "Let's Dish" Challenge to do a tablescape with only 2 colors was nearly impossible!
Good Grief...doesn't she know how hard that is for me to do??
Since autumn in Ohio is my very most favorite season, I went with the obvious color of Pumpkin ORANGE.
I paired it with white and lots of texture, like these vintage hobnail candlesticks, which were a gift from my sister, Fritzie.
Thanks Sis!!
Please note that I also arranged the table off to the side with 2 soup tureens & a pumpkin inside a cloche, all done in the same two colors!
While the white hydrangeas looked beautiful in my tall white milkglass vase,
they began to drop their petals almost as soon as I brought them inside.
I switched my centerpiece to this beautiful pumpkin, below, that I found in McKinney, TX,
while visiting my husband's son's family there.
I love its curly vines & tendrils!
The little pumpkins surrounding it are actually tiny candles.
I've paired my pumpkin salad plates and their cute little matching bowls (from Walmart, several years ago) with solid white dishes that have various interesting borders.
The bees on my Napoleon flatware, (from Horchow), playfully coordinate with the bees on the La Roche glassware that I won from Libby.
Instead of lemon for the water, I went with...
what else....
ORANGE SLICES & ORANGE CRUSH!
Other areas of the house have some of the same autumnal touches.
Okay, I know they aren't EXACTLY Orange,
but work with me here, will ya?
I'm trying really hard!
You KNOW there had to be some other ORANGE CANDY on the table, someplace, right?
I love to see how the evening sun comes in the high dining room window & adds sparkle & shadows to the table.
We enjoyed home grown slow-roasted tomato soup (also ORANGE) with bits of fresh basil & croutons.
You can find the printable recipe HERE.
I didn't forget dessert either....
ORANGE & WHITE DREAMSICLE CAKE!
I didn't make the cake...it is from our local grocery store, Giant Eagle.
Quite frankly, it wasn't that great & I wouldn't buy it again but hey....
it FIT THE COLOR SCHEME!
Do I get extra points for forcing myself to eat it, Kathleen??? LOL
I hope you visit Cuisine Kathleen for her Let's Dish party.
I'll also join in Yvonne's Tutorials, Tips & Tidbits at StoneGable and
The Tablescaper's Seasonal Sunday meme and Susan's Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.
Thanks for stopping by The Gazebo House today.
I'll have a few sewing projects to share with you next week & hopefully, some more delicious photos from the Streetsboro Quilt Show.

Perfect choice of colors for October, Rett! Your table looks very fresh and crisp, like ideal October weather. Your pumpkin full of caramels made my mouth water! I couldn't have that in MY house, or I'd be popping one every time I passed by!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that funny how some things call your name, Tricia & other things not? Those caramels don't tempt me one bit, but leave a Kit Kat or a Heath Bar out in the candy dish...then its "Katy, bar the door!!" LOL
ReplyDeleteSame with my husband's daily doughnuts. I am never bothered by the chocolate covered ones in the house but look out...all bets are off if any of them are LEMON ...or Maple, for that matter. Funny how that works, huh?
Good Morning Rhett, I love your table and the colors you picked are so pretty. I have been catching up with friends this morning here in blog land. Your caramels make me think of caramel apples or dipping sauce with the apple slices. Your sewing is wonderful. I will continue to pray for your family. Have a wonderful day. Many Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet words & your prayers, Shirley.
DeleteHospice was finally called in for my nephew. so sad
Lovin' your orange and white table Rett, perfect for this time of year! I have one of those candlesticks and picked up a short one at a different yard sale... Kinda makes a set (in my mind:@) Enjoy fall:@)
ReplyDeleteI think having different sizes of candlesticks would be great, Lynn...especially if you grouped them together on one side. You & I both have a special love of the vintage glass.
DeleteLove the orange and white....so fall like! Of course, all your combinations are wonderful! And your sense of humor? That can't be beat.....I'm sitting her chuckling all by myself.
ReplyDeleteRett, your pictures are always amazing. I always enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteI love it, plain and simple. Orange has always been a favorite color of mine. I can't take it in too great of volume, but I love it, especially in the fall. I didn't realize that the challenge was today. Doggonit. I was planning to do one but thought it was later in the month. Now, I'm bummed. Maybe it's a sign that I need to just stay out of blog land. )
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, Debbie...I was off by a week. Another *senior/blonde moment*...sigh.
DeleteThe 2 color challenge isn't until Oct. 16th, so you still have plenty of time.
Rett,
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Can't wait to get back to Florida and play with my dishes! Love the oranges and the caramels work just fine!
Hugs,
Carol
Safe travels, Carol...maybe next year we'll get down for a little bit & I'll get to see you!
DeleteHi Rett! I love your orange and white color themed table., plus the other accents around your pretty home. When I noticed you visited McKinney, TX, I just freaked out! My daughter lives there and I am a stones throw away from there. If you ever get back, we will have to meet. xo
ReplyDeleteYou always do such a beautiful job decorating your home and table, Rett. Your photographs are so gorgeous they should be in a magazine! Hugs and Blessings, Karen
ReplyDeleteLove this table! Simple, yet seasonal...
ReplyDeleteHard for you to do? Sure doesn't look like it!!! You did a marvelous job!!! The white with the deep orange really looks great!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the cake wasn't as tasty as it was pretty. All for the sake of the craft! :-)
Love the orange and white together! You did a great job! The fall decorations are very pretty and the food looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteKatherine
Rett, not sure how I missed this post, but happy it popped up tonight. You did a fab job on the challenge. Love the orange and white theme. Think Hook Em Horns! You even carried it through to the food. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the contrast between the white and the orange! Looks so wonderful on your glass tabletop too! Everything is put together perfectly and the pumpkin centerpiece is just right. I like how you tried so hard to coordinate so much of your surrounding décor too. Kathleen should give you top honours!
ReplyDeleteDD
Rett~ I love your orange and white table for the challenge! Your hobnail candlesticks are beautiful and I love the late in the day sun reflecting and making things sparkle. I always marvel how clean your glass table top is! I was oohing and aahing over beautiful white hydrangeas, shedding petals or not :)
ReplyDeleteI think you met the challenge head on...love bright orange against the starkness of white. I am in awe of you coordinating the meal to the challenge, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, Rett...
Rett;
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. Love the contrast. Just gorgeous.
It's a treat to have you at Seasonal Sundays.
