OLD TIME Pottery

P2220015

Last week, Susan from Between Naps on The Porch, did a post about some of her sponsors. I remembered shopping with my dear friend Barb L. at OLD TIME Pottery when I lived in FL, so I followed Susan's link in her post, just to see if they had an online store.

Imagine my surprise to learn that we had an OTP right here in Ohio...THREE, in fact! This place is like crack for a dishaholic, honest.

P2220016

This is what greets you when you first walk in the door! Tons & tons of gorgeous faux botanicals in every color imaginable. My eyes were just dancing in every direction, thinking of all the wreaths & Easter decor I could work magic with supplies like these.

P2220017

Easter items were in abundance...these made me smile right back at them.

I thought the prices were wonderful, too!

P2220032

P2220018

Just look at all these GORGEOUS colors! I was thinking how cute these T-lite jars would be, hanging out in the gazebo for a summer party.

P2220022

Lots & LOTS of dishes in many different styles & boy, if you ever wanted WHITE ones, you had your pick. Just look at these aisles...wall to wall white, on BOTH sides!

P2220028

I loved all the kitchen items, casseroles dishes, pie plates, cutlery, serving pieces...you name it, they have it.

P2220020

I found cookies cutters, MORE cute cupcake liners (just what I needed) and some fun kitchen gadgets. I ♥♥♥ kitchen gadgets!

P2220025

Now you KNOW some of these DARLING RED polka-dot pieces came home with me!

P2220026

The lady behind me in the check out aisle told me she had them & they were wonderful...cleaned up easily & still looked nice after heavy usage. I'm planning on making steak & mushroom pot pies today in some of them!

P2220027

Can you believe these rooster salad plates were only $1.49 each???? If they had been white instead of cream, I would have snagged a ton of them. I still may!

P2220021

All these Happy~ Happy colors had my going pitter-patter! Their displays are almost overwhelming. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, as you're on bare concrete floors the whole time!

P2220019

P2220024

I'm now kicking myself for not picking up any of the lovely blue & white pieces you see here. I immediately thought of Cherry Kay and all her pretty blue & white! I think I have to go back!

P2220029

I did stock up on candles for my dining room. Some were less that the .50 price you see here. I got beautiful cream ones for .39 apiece! We go through a LOT of candles around here!

P2220031

I was wishing these damask pillows had been black & white instead of the gold, copper & blue. Now that I see the photo, I LOVE the pale blue ones! I KNOW I'm going back now!

P2220030

I did pick up ONE (what was I thinking???) of these GORGEOUS silk pillows. I'm pretty sure it is *Canadian smocking*. Its more like the lotus pattern & it is lovely. I was thinking in terms of gift giving but once I put it on my sofa, I don't want to part with it. I think I need several more & at THAT price they won't last long.

I told Susan to let her sponsor, OLD TIME Pottery, know that advertising on her site worked! Thanks for linking them in your post. My trunk was FULL when I left & I know it will be after a return trip as well.

Thanks for coming along on my shopping trip. I hope you can find a store like this near you. Their big 26th Anniversary sale starts March 8th. I can't wait!

Hugs, Rett

I'll be joining The Tablescaper for her

Come on over & see what others are doing!

I went the to OTP in Ft. Myers, but there is one in Tampa, which isn't too far from where you were staying, I think. I hope you get to visit one, Judith. Lots of fun & inspiration for not a lot of money.

  4. I know what you mean!!! You go in this place and you just CAN'T come out!!! We have one about 18 miles away from our house, and I swing by there every time I go to Costco. (Sadly, Costco, Hobby Lobby, Old Time Pottery, and Dollar Tree are all right there with Marshall's not too far, too!!! I HAVE to visit them all!!!) When you walk in OTP you just feel like you've returned to the Mothership!!! :-) Who couldn't get happy with all that color going on in there?!??!!! When I saw those polka dotted casseroles the other day, I actually thought of YOU!!! The lady behind me had a bunch of them (RED ones, no less!) in her cart, and I told her I had a blog friend who would be wearin' 'em as hats! :-) I really like the "warehouse" styling of OTP, too. Not only does it keep overhead costs down, but it just seems to relax me...like no fear of accidentally backing up into a fancy display and breaking something like in a regular store. This is the type of set-up I would love to have for storage of all my stuff at my house! About 2500 sq. feet would be just the ticket! :-) Glad you found an OTP there near you. You'll be Jonesing for a trip there every couple of weeks or so! Thanks for stopping by my place earlier!!!

  8. This is one of my favorite vacation stores! There is one at Garden City Beach, which is right outside of Myrtle Beach that I always MUST go to when we are vacationing down that way. I can spend hours in there and always do. I am so serious about my shopping time there that I usually (prefer) go shopping by myself so I don't have anyone else to bug me about time or distract me from looking at every single thing. Haha! We are vacationing nearby again this year so it's on my list and I am looking forward to it. They always have the best deals no matter what time of the year. I wish there was one closer to me but maybe it's a good thing there isn't. Your photos have certainly gotten me in the mood now, but will have to wait until June. Oh, I can hardly wait!

  13. Rett, I am so jealous! OTP hasn't made it to Texas, apparently. I did see there's one in Destin, and we visit there a few times a year, so NEXT time, we're going directly there from the airport! Hmm. How will I get my haul home?? Thanks for all the enticing photos!

  14. None near Philly Rett, but it sure looks like a fun place to shop:@)

  15. I'm twitching just looking at all those white dishes and the polka dots! Wow! The last thing I need is more dish "stuff" and yet I keep adding more and more. I put up pictures of my dish room yesterday and it is overflowing...but, sometimes things will just jump in my cart!

  20. I just read BNOTP post today showing aisle after aisle from this wonderful, amazing store! Good thing we don't have one around here because it would be such a temptation! And to think that everything is available in multiples, not just a piece of this and a piece of that. Oh, trouble, trouble!

  21. Rett~ I had to google...there is an OTP about an hour away from me. I think I feel the need for a road trip~ I have a feeling it would be a dangerous & expensive one! Thanks for the tour :)

  22. I am so glad you posted about Old Time Pottery!! I have never been there, but so loved the pictures you posted. I live in Newark, Ohio and now I see there is one located in Columbus. My father-in-law is in OSU Hospital currently...maybe I will have to make a side trip to OTP. Where are you in Ohio?

  23. Rett, Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving such a sweet comment. I also collect the Pink Dogwood pattern and want to add to my yellow Madrid pattern. They made some sectioned plates that I would like to have, my mother only had two but she also gave me some serving pieces that I did not show on my post.

Where is that shop in FL???? I know I am going to hate myself for asking that question.

I only go with people who are marathon shoppers like me because you have to make a day of it (Soup and salad at Olive Garden for sustenance!). Thanks for sharing!

  32. Loved the little trip you took us on, yes that would not be a good place for me.. thank goodness we don't have one anywhere close.. not even in a surrounding state.. LOL.. Love the polka dot dishes, and you should go snag those pillows.. too pretty! xo marlis (who is better now.. thanks a bunch!)

  33. Oh dear, I would be in so much trouble if I lived close to a place like that. Even though I don't have an inch of cupboard space for more stuff I would be be hauling bags of dishes and accessories home with me. We don't have great stores like that out here in the West. TJMax and Home Goods are about as exciting as it gets. Love those chicken plates.

  34. I'm so glad that you shared this. I was just at Garden Ridge yesterday, and I wonder if they are owned by the same company. They are laid out much the same, and they feature much of the same merchandise...matter of fact, I have bought quite a bit of blue and wite there. Yesterday I bought some neat chandelier shades in black and two cases of champagne flutes to paint. We have the polka dots pieces, too, and I thought of you...great minds think alike! Cherry Kay

  35. I love Old Time Pottery. One isn't terribly close to me, but it's only a day trip away. I normally want to buy one of everything, but my wallet tells me to have SOME kind of restraint. Sounds like you had a really great time on your visit. Can't wait to see what all you'll be doing with your loot!

  41. Sadly, the Dayton store closed a few years ago, so I haven't had my "fix" for a while, Rett. I need to run over to Columbus soon for a shopping trip there and at one of the antique malls where a couple of Buckeye Blogger friends have booths. whew- such a chore that will be- NOT!!! Hope you're keeping warm and staying out of the blustery March winds up there. We have a few snow flurries coming down right now. Weird weather.....

  45. I was unable to leave a comment on your post regarding Pinterest so doing it here. I stumbled on your blog from another one and was frankly taken aback by the vehemence of your notice not to copy your images. While some blogs ask that their images not be copied, I find that many images on most blogs are not original(and many great bloggers state it is okay to use their images, others restrict only commercial use). The interaction between blogs and Pinterest is confusing to new users. I use Pinterest as a bulletin board for ideas for my home. As I told no one I had a Pinterest account I am surprised at how many of my pins, orginal and copied, are repinned though I don't mind. I am not a blogger though have considered a NON commercial blog. I think that is the difference - commercial versus idea sharing. I had my attorney son read the Pinterest agreement and it is ok for my purposes. I guess what I am trying to say is that all copying is not malicious. Thanks for listening

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks for expressing your feelings & concerns, CB. I totally agree with your statement that " all copying is not malicious". In fact, I was truly flattered when I noticed that folks were "pinning" my photos. However, when I found out that Cold Brew Labs was claiming ownership of those images & could, in the future, SELL them, I was not happy. They have since just recently amended their TOS to eliminate the word "sell". I'm sorry if my "vehemence" bothered you.

The reason that your pins are being repinned is that people can see the newest images uploaded each time they log on & from there, they can repin them to their own inspiration boards. They don't have to know about you at all.

Let me repeat, I LOVED PINTEREST!! I was having a ball with it, but the copyright violations that were evident all over the site, with folks not bothering to give proper credit to the originators bothered me a great deal. Plus, when I learned that other companies intended to print & publish hardcopies of people's inspiration boards, using mine & other people's photos, I drew the line.

I hope this clarifies my position & I truly appreciate your visit & the expression of your opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thanks for the response, Rett. I was not offended but, rather, felt bad/guilty when I read your position on copying. (for the record, I would never intentially copy something with a copyright)

The really funny thing is that you responded on my"blog". This was a test page I did and forgot about! I didn't realize it was connected to my Gmail - ha. You are the only one who has seen it and I thought I had deleted it.

I think much of the confusion comes from the fact that many are just sharing ideas and others have a commercial interest in their blogs. It might be a hard mix. I am impressed if all you pics are original!

Thank you for accepting my comments in the spirit I intended. Carol

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yeppers, all I did was click on your name "CB" & it took me to your profile page where the link to "Three Moss" showed.
Don't delete it...keep going! Blogging is loads of fun & you meet some of the nicest people all over the world. I am amazed at the windows it has opened up for me & all that I have learned on various subjects since starting.

Yes, all the photos on my blog have been taken by me, unless I state otherwise. Oh & no need to feel bad/guilty about wanting to copy something from here. My Mom always said "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". I just cringed at the thought of photos of my sweet granddaughter in her pretty dresses, being printed off from someone's inspiration board. I try very hard not to put her face on the internet. Too many weirdos out there!

    ReplyDelete

Thank you so much for leaving a comment. I read them all & each one is so very special to me & I try really hard to return the visit!

fondly,
~Rett~
