We're having another couple join us for Sunday dinner this weekend, so I've set the table with a Valentines Day theme.
The linens are the Ainsworth pattern by Waterford, found at Tuesday Morning. The very talented shopper, Cherry Kay, from Entertaining Women, helped me acquire the napkins to match this tablecloth. Thank you for being my personal shopper that day, Cherry Kay!
Since it is still very much winter here in Ohio, I thought the winterberry holly pattern of my Lenox would work nicely. The green mimics the pine fabric on my quilted tablerunner that I just finished making & the little red berries are clustered in groups of 3 that resemble ♥'s to me.
The candy-apple RED chargers are from Big Lots & the ♥ shaped dishes are from Michaels, last year. I hope they have them again, as I would love to get more!
The crystal candlesticks are new & I was thrilled to see how beautifully they coordinated with my Crystal d'Arques "Longchamps" stemware, that Alycia, from Tablescapes at Table Twenty-One reminded me I owned. I had forgotten all about them, until I read her mention of them on the post that I hot linked above.
The current centerpiece is a Polish crystal, dual-wick, oil burning orb that I have filled with RED candle lamp oil.
I intend to replace it with fresh flowers on Sunday, but it is too early to get them yet.
My ♥ shaped Waterford crystal candy dish is one I carried home from Ireland & I love the wonderful memories of that trip it evokes every time I bring it out.
The little gold trimmed heart shaped dishes are Mikasa, purchased years ago. I use them for either serving applesauce or holding extra cheese or perhaps a few strawberries to go on a salad. It varies, depending on the meal, but they repeat the gold trim of the Lenox plates nicely.
The center of the quilted runner is a pieced Ohio Star block.
An exact duplicate of it was made & then cut in half & attached at each end of the panel of cardinals, Ohio's state bird.
I am thrilled to get to use my custom-made copper & crystal, gold beaded silverware that my sewing friend, Nicole & her children hand wrapped for me! Such a special gift from a very special friend! Thank you, Nicole!
I tried to capture a few evening shots but I didn't time it too well. If I wait too late, it is very difficult to see anything in my dining room.
But at least you CAN see how pretty the candlesticks match the diamond cut on the stemware!
Serendipity!
I'm joining our gracious hostesses, Laurie at Bargain Hunting & Chatting with Laurie, for her annual Valentines Day Party as well as sweet Susan, for Tablescape Thursday & the talented Tablescaper for her Seasonal Sunday meme & Marty's Table Top Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life. Lots of parties to visit & be inspired!
Thanks for stopping by The Gazebo House today. I wish I could have ALL of you over for a special Valentines Day dinner & DESSERT!
SUCH a pretty table, Rett! The little red heart-shaped dishes go so well with your pretty Lenox china! Your photography is wonderful -- love the "rim shot" of the plates together with the gold-tipped glass dish!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty... I also leave out my wintery decor through Valentine's Day. I love the table runner. Cardinals are my favorite, and they decorate my house throughout winter. They go so well with Valentine decor.
ReplyDeleteRett, your table is beautiful as usual. Hope you enjoyed your dinner.
ReplyDeleteHi, Rett,
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty. I love everything and your pictures are just wonderful. I think the dishes are very appropriate for Valentines.
How beautiful! Your runner steals the show, it is a work of art. I hope you enjoy your dinner party, I know your guests will!
ReplyDeleteI didn't see red hearts at Michael's , just the pink and white. I will have to look!
It was sunny and low 40's today, I will take it, a month from now it will almost be Spring! almost...:)
Thank you for putting my party up on your side bar!
The silverware is pretty darned fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Rett. Your table runner is just gorgeous! I wouldn't have thought to use the holly dishes, but they are perfect. The flatware is so pretty...looks like it would be lots of time put into each piece.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Rett, your table is sure to make your guests feel very special. It is gorgeous with all your special heart details. I think it's a great idea to use the holly dishes. I missed your previous post, but just read through it tonight. That heart shaped bread tube took me back a few years. Now I'm curious as to what happened to the one we had. I've not seen it in years. Have no idea where it might be.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your dinner party and Happy Valentine's Day to you and your sweetheart. ~ Sarah
What a good idea to use your Lenox with the sweet red heart dishes. Always fun to use holiday dishes for multiple holidays. The flatware your friend made you is a total gift of love. They are the jewels on your table, setting everything off with great panache. Have a lovely week. ~CJ
ReplyDeleteWell, you remembered your beautiful stemware, and I was able to recall my gray napkins this week....you know, they say that as long as we can remember that we forgot, we're okay. The moment I laid eyes on that glorious runner, I knew that your talented hands had been busily and lovingly stitching. It's magnificent! I also salute you for skillfully utilizing your lovely Lenox Holly Winterberry china...I think that you'll start a trend here. Thanks for inviting us for a peak and for the mention. I'll shop for you anytime! Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteRett, my dear...

I'm kind of gobstruck right now. I would never in a million years have thought to do a winter themed Valentine table. This is just beautiful, and I love it all. My favorite part is the flatware. When I read that they were hand made, I loved them even more.
ReplyDeleteWhat. A. Treat.
That's because YOU LIVE IN THE SOUTH...where it is sunny & warm for Valentines Day, Debbie!!! LOL
DeleteI remember well. *sigh*
I'm in love with this tablescape! I really like the fact you used winter touches along with the red & white for Valentine's. Thanks for sharing inspiration!

Rett,
ReplyDeleteYes, my mother's dishes are candlewick. The little dessert cups are something else, bubble glass I think.
Thank you for the link info.
Smiles,
Carol
I love everything! What a great idea to use the Lenox for Valentine's -- I am filing that one away in the mental computer. Your table runner is a work of art.
ReplyDeleteI am very intrigued with your flatware -- did you commission someone to make this?
No, I didn't commission it...Nicole just surprised me with it!! Her two daughters helped her make them for me for Christmas.
DeleteBeautiful! My daughter has the Lenox holly china, I've always loved it! Never thought of pairing it with hearts for Valentine's Day, great idea! The table runner is great with it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day!
Katherine
P.S. - I forgot to mention the hand crafted flatware - it is fabulous!! What a wonderful gift!

I would like to thank you so much for your sweet comments on my Valentines Day tablescape. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family.
XXOO Diane
How many hundreds of hours did it take you to put all those red hots so perfectly in that crystal dish?!??!?! Yikes! It's like looking at a piece of art! If you stare at it for a long time, the pieces appear to get darker and puff up. (Yes, I'm weird...I sat there and stared at it!) Yippee!!! You found and used your Longchamps!!!! They're beautiful with this! That's funny that you gave me props for reminding you that you have them. Now every time I use mine I'm going to think about you! :-) Cool idea to go with the Winterberry china. The little clusters DO look like hearts...and I didn't even have to stare at them to see that! :-) I'm wondering if Nicole would like to become my friend, too? I LOVE THAT FLATWARE!!!!! I am going to scold all of my friends right away because they never give me gifts like that! :-) Beautiful table, Rett! Have a great weekend and a loving Valentine's Day!

Fabulous flatware! Love your pretty setting. I'm a holly lover so I enjoy seeing it after Christmas as well. Very pretty mid-WInter setting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful Valentine's table. It's so great when dishes can be used for more than one holiday. Your Lenox china goes perfectly. And I have the same Longchamps goblets. They are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWonderful runner. You are so talented!

ReplyDeleteCindy
Rett,
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm so happy to see you using the Holiday pattern. Such a pretty tablescape. I have the very same crystal candelsticks I've had mine well over 30 years. Happy Valentines Day! Pat
Rett, You did a wonderful job on the cardinal runner and the Lenox dinnerware paired with the heart bowls is just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen too many cardinals this winter and there are usually two couples that always seemed to hang around our yard. You probably have gotten lots more snow than us down here in SW Ohio. It snowed an inch or so but didn't accumulate. The weathermen always put the scare into everyone on the local channels. It's cold but sunny today. Thank goodness- I'm so tired of gray skies! Hope you enjoy your company at this gorgeous table today. hugs, Sue
Oh Rett, it's beautiful! I love the idea of the holly rimmed plates for Valentine's dinner (you're right, the berries do look like hearts). Your runner is beautiful, and I love the thought that went into the design. I also love the way you covered the bottom of the glass heart dish with red candies. It looks so pretty, and the gold rimmed heart bowls are beautiful. After seeing that mosaic of desserts, I really wish you could have me at your house for dessert! Thank you so much for linking to the party at my place. laurie
ReplyDeleteI kept reading and reading because I wanted to know where you got that gorgeous silverware...and then you said they were handmade! Stunning!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you decided to join Seasonal Sundays. Hope you'll be here next week too!
ReplyDelete- The Tablescaper
Ohhhhhhh, I love this table!!!! It's so clever that you used your holly dishes. They are beautiful and look great with the adorable red heart dishes! Your table runner is beautiful...love seeing the cardinals! Everything is wonderful (and those desserts at the end..yummy)!!
