This year, I got smart & every time I carried some of the
Christmas decorations down to the basement,
I brought back up with me,
a box of BLUE & WHITE snowmen!
It seems lots of bloggers use blue & white during January.
Those are just about the only colors we'll see
here in Ohio for awhile...blue sky & white ground cover!
My husband always says the way to tolerate winter
is to learn to have FUN & play in it.
You can ski, go sled or toboggan riding,
ice skate or cross county ski,
build a snowman or a fort,
have a snowball fight or
just make *snow angels*
while lying on your back.
We did several of those things with
the grandchildren recently & then came in to warm up.
We had a little tea party,
using my collection of FUN in the snow plates.
Some had tea
while others enjoyed hot cocoa
with peppermint candy canes to stir it with.
These snowmen plates came from Kohls,
(I think)
and the blue stemware are from the Dollar Store.
We even have some sparkly snowmen on sleds.
I tucked the napkins through the runners
& used them for napkin rings.
Speaking of "sparkle",
look at these GORGEOUS notecards
that I recently won from Kathi at South Bay Studio!
These are her own hand drawings,
done on a wonderfully high quality, heavy weight paper.
You can see the texture in the photo below:
Can you see the deckle edges that are on
both the cards as well as the envelopes?
(she calls them "feather edged")
Love that touch!
These blank cards were PERFECT
for all my Christmas "thank you" notes.
She has many different styles to chose from.
In fact, they just got home from Maui &
she painted a tree that was on the beach!

Thank you so much, Kathi,
for my lovely win in your give-away!

Hello Rett
ReplyDeleteQuite the collection of blue and white snowmen things. Sounds like great outdoor fun and then to have a cozy little tea party.
Judith
So cute, Rett! Snowmen are perfect for January and you know I love me some plates! lol Happy Sunday!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteAdorable...it is so cute...love snowmen!
ReplyDeleteRett, I would love having a house full of cheery snowmen scattered about the house. They are adorable! I'm still trying to pack away the last of Chrismas and I'm hoping to give the house a thorough dusting before I put out any more decor. By then it will be time for Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteI love that you kept the snowmen plates out...they do say winter!! And they are darling! Sounds like you are taking full advantage of the snow with the little ones! Brrrr...they definitely need something warm to drink when they come in! It is 20 degrees here!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards, what a talented artist!
XO,
Jane
Dear Rett,
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented and so full of life! The colors around your house speak volumes of that!So glad to know that you are healing well. Thanks for sharing the heart-warming clicks - you sure must have had a whale of your time with your grandkids:)Hope to see you up and running soon..take care!!
Sounds like you have a wonderful winter attitude. As Ohio winter days go, today is a keeper. The sun is shining brightly.
ReplyDeleteLove your snowman collection.
I would smile every time I looked at those adorable snowmen dishes. They are perfect for this month. We got a few snowflakes this morning but it has all melted now. We don't have pretty blue sky with our snow. It's grey and ominous.
ReplyDeleteLovely collection, Rett, and they sure take the blues out of a cold January. I think I would smile every time I walked in to your home.
ReplyDeleteHi Rett! Oh, what darling little plates in your plate holder! I love all of your January blues too! The glance out your window is beautiful and I hope you'll stay warm!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hi Rett, So cute. Love the snowman collection. Hope winter is not being to harsh, it was very cold here today, -15C brrrr!! hugs, Jen.
ReplyDeleteI love ALL your snowmen and plates. I am such a snowman collector. They make me smile!

How did I miss this post? I just found it now! My sister is also a collector of snowmen stuff in January and February (actually, right up to before Easter), but I don't think she has snowman plates. I should have known you would! Just to carry all that heavy stuff up and down from the basement would "do me in". Very cute though! I bet you smile every time you see them.....I would!
ReplyDeleteI just love all your snowmen and blue and white. This year, I just left the snowmen in my kitchen out where they were so I could enjoy them well into January.
ReplyDeleteI just needed to eliminate some Christmas green and I was good to go!
Hi Rett, Your snowmen plates and mugs are just adorable! Years ago, I decided that the way to cope with winter was to try to enjoy it, and I bought cross-country skis. Trouble is, it wasn't much fun skiing alone! Your DH has the right idea, though. Wishing you and your family a wonderful 2012!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Beth
p.s. Thanks for your very sweet comments on my blog. It made me feel good!
What a fun post, Rett!! The blue is so pretty. Those little ones surely had fun with all the activities!! It seems you're doing better; I hope so! Thanks for sharing!! ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteRett, cute, cute, cute. I love those little heart shaped plates. Your blues are delightful. I've been gathering some blue photo shots from Paris. ;-)

Rett~ What a cute & cheery collection of snowmen! My MIL is a snowman collector! It doesn't look like we will have any snow this year~ unlike last year! I always enjoy a seasonal snowfall, primarily because it doesn't stick around very long :)
ReplyDeleteRett,
ReplyDeleteHi! Love all the snow man plates and winter scenes. Uplifing on a winter day. The edges on those cards are nice touch. Pat
What a beautiful display your blue and white snowmen dishes make on the baker's rack! I like your use of the blue stemmed glasses, too. I'm going to remember that, as I struggle to "fill in" my baker's rack sometimes. I would love to see your snowy view!
ReplyDeleteReally love your set. It fits with the wintry days.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT...
Greetings from STockholm,

What delightful plates - the snowmen and the penguins! The view from your window is gorgeous, and that view on your note cards is beautiful too. Thank you so much for displaying my party button on your blog. laurie
ReplyDeleteAll your snowmen made me smile! We don't really get that much snow around here anymore. I grew up about 30 miles from here and we used to get quite a bit-global warming I guess. I don't really like it anyway, but the gray, muddy cold isn't even pretty and we can't do all those outdoor "sports" that you mentioned. Winter to me tends to mean cleaning out things, reading books and sipping hot chocolate. That isn't too bad either!
ReplyDeleteLove those plates, so cute. And what a sweet tea setting! The kids must have loved it.
ReplyDeleteSo does dh go out and roll around in the snow??? :)
We haven't had any thank you for keeping it in Ohio.
I think you are rubbing off on me. I cut my leg, and a few days later it hurt like heck, even though I kept cleaning it and putting ointment on it. Went to the doc, on antib, and have to keep it up with hot compresses. BORING!
Hope you are all healed!
Lovin' your snowmen Rett! I have mine out too, seems they're behaving this year... We had our first snow yesterday, only about 2.5"-I can live with that! Happy Sunday:@)
ReplyDeleteVisiting again from Seasonal Sundays Rett! I'm wishing I had your cute snowmen to put together a table~ it's dreary, cold & rainy this weekend! Enjoy your Sunday :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rett,
ReplyDeleteI love blue and white anytime of the year. Really enjoyed your snow people. Such fun to use them all winter. I left my snow folks out, too. Fun post. Stay warm and cozy!
Oh Rett, so fun! What a wonderful collection and perfect for this season.
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you be a part of Seasonal Sundays.
