We'll be away from home for Easter this year,
so I didn't think I'd have a tablescape to share at
Cuisine Kathleen's "Let's Dish" party
or Susan's BNOTP Tablescape Thursday.
However, when I arrived at
my friend Nicole's home today,
for *Smock & Talk*,
she had her kitchen table all set up for
a Cleveland Indian's Opening Day Celebration!
(which is Thursday of this week)
She MADE all of these darling placemats!!!
Aren't they cute??
I wish I'd had my good camera with me,
because these photos don't do them justice.
They were just so happy & vibrant looking &
I just flipped over all the creative
"accoutrements" that she has added.
That chubby pink fellow is
"Slider" in the center...
he is the Cleveland Indian's mascot &
he's cheering for O-H-I-O!
There was a bobble-head doll at each place
as well as a paper hot dog
holder & a bag of cracker jacks, too.
among other things, for dinner.
(EDIT:
I've added a hot link to the authentic
Stadium Mustard's website to answer Alycia's
question, below.
Its what makes the hot dogs at the ballpark taste so GOOD!)
She even had ball park peanuts!!
Too fun!
Do you recognize this guy on the mound?
Its Bob Feller, the famous & beloved Cleveland Indians pitcher, from 1936-1956, who pitched 266 victories during his playing career. He was nicknamed "The Heater from Van Meter, "Bullet Bob" & also "Rapid Robert".
I know the kids had to be thrilled
to come home from school to find
all this waiting for them.
I wish I could have been there to
see their faces when they walked in the door.
I'm pretty sure they're going to the game tomorrow, too.
I wish I was.....Go Tribe!
PLAY BALL!!!!
I love it. So glad your friend let you share this. We are big sports fans here in California. Love to watch all the games. Every sport, every season. This looks so fun.
ReplyDeleteOOh life begins on opening day!! or opening trickle these years.. Love this table. Beautiful placemats!!! great talent. Happy Easter, many blessings, xo marlis
ReplyDeleteThose placemats just make the table! Of course, all the little extras are wonderful too. Yum, hotdogs with stadium mustard. I'm almost afraid to tell you that I'm a lifelong NY Yankees fan--handed down to me from my father and grandfather! Happy Easter! Linda
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely wonderful! My daughter-in-love sent me a text with a pic of my grandson, Jack, tonight. He was all suited up as catcher for his 6 year olds baseball game! He would love this. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteWhat an effort she made - very clever!

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun table! Of course I started to sing in my head "buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks!" I just adore the bobble heads. They make the table too fun. Wish I could have seen the kids too!
ReplyDeleteThe aqua placemats were from Target and they were brand new so hurry out. The chargers were from Pier I.
E-gads, it almost makes me want to make Milwaukee Brewers placemats! I know my nephew would love me to death! He is quite the baseball guy! What a cute idea for a family dinner! I think our opening day is Thursday too!

Beth
Very cute! I love it - even though I'm a Brewers fan ;)
ReplyDeleteHow neat I found your blog, just now, and the Indians are in 15th inning of their home opener.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was the longest opening game ever in the major leagues!! Too bad they lost. Boo-Hoo!!
DeleteThis is just as fun as it can be...even if it doesn't feature the Kansas City Royals! ;-) She really did think of a lot of fun details. Do tell...what exactly is "stadium mustard" and how does it differ from regular ol' Kroger mustard? (Kroger is in Atlanta, right? I tried to think of a Georgia grocery store because I figured you wouldn't recognize any of the Kansas City grocery names!) Best wishes to the Atlanta Braves this baseball season, and kudos to your friend for this cool table!
ReplyDeleteYes, Stadium Mustard is very different from regular old plain mustard, Alycia. I put in a hot link to their website...it is the official mustard used at the ballpark & it is the reason the hot dogs taste so good, compared to the ones we make at home.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of people who would order a drink, dump out the liquid & fill their cup with the mustard from the pump dispensers, so they could bring that same great taste for later use on their own hot dogs at home. Of course, now you can buy it for home use, in our local stores as well as online.
What a fun table. I bet the kids of all ages got a real kick out of it. I hope you and your family have a very blessed and Happy Easter, Rett.
ReplyDeleteThis is just so cute! And lots of fun!! I host a monthly "Thrifty Tablescape" Linky party the first Saturday of each month. This month's party is Saturday April 7. I would love for you to share this tablescape with us at the party! Have a wonderful Easter!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun table, Rett! I know the kids did love it when they got home! Happy Easter to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteHello Rett~hopping in to wish you a wonderful Easter.
ReplyDeleteAt this holiday I'm always flooded with memories of wearing fluffy dresses and petticoats with fluffy hair to match.
One memory stands out... as a young adult when I wasn't able to return home for Easter. My sweet mom sent me an Easter box, which included dyed eggs...I refer to them as "died" Easter eggs. Snail mail produced a box accompanied with a foul odor. I still laugh hysterically when I think about the stink bomb going off when it was opened. Fortunately I was able to rescue the remaining treats from my box.
You gotta adore a bobble-head. This whole tablescape is a HOME RUN!
Getting these small glimpses of spring we've been taunted with has me craving a weather change.
I'm more than ready to welcome a fresh season of color.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
How cute! Thanks for sharing this one, Rett. Hope you have a delightful Easter weekend. Safe travels. ~ Sarah
