Scenes of Christmas

"Never put off till tomorrow, what you can do today."
~~Thomas Jefferson~~

This quote has been ringing in my ears since Friday!

I had just wrapped the last Christmas present & was hurrying outside to cut some fresh evergreens to put in a glass vase with cranberries & a floating candle,... like THIS ONE

when I tripped on the garage steps & fell down 3 steps!
I shattered the vase in my hand & cut it in
at least 7 places.

It took several stitches to close up a few of them.

My foot & ankle got progressively more swollen &
painful
but the x-rays showed no broken bones.
I may have torn some ligaments & will perhaps
need an
MRI it doesn't improve by next week.

I felt like such a KLUTZ!!!!!!!

Thank goodness, most of my holiday preparations were done
however.....

Christmas Eve's dinner changed from beef tenderloin, scalloped potatoes, etc. to having my daughter pick up Chinese carry-out on their way over.

We sang "
Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra" around the table & still had a wonderful time!

Needless to say, typing is difficult & slow,
so I'll just use my right hand to upload some
Christmas photos
from around the house.

  9. I just read about your accident on Jacqueline's Purple Chocolat Home!!! Poor thing! I feel so bad for you!! I know how much it must hurt physically, but for it to happen during this busy Christmas time had to hurt even more!!! Aw, man....that's just awful!!! I hope you are feeling a whole lot better sooner than later. Beautiful photos, and I must say that I like it that you are liberal with the paprika on the deviled eggs! :-) Have a SAFE and Happy New Year, Rett! Feel better!!!

  11. Hi, Rett. I'm soooo sorry about your fall!! Wow...bad foot and hand; that's really hard. Sounds like you've kept the right frame of mind, though--glad about that for you! I read your comment at Home is Where the Boat is and came right over to "visit" you. Your house looks lovely. My mother always buys ribbon candy and I bought some this year (not easy to find), but ended up not putting it out, because it's too much temptation for the little ones, and no point having to say "no" over and over :).
My best wishes for a quick recovery and for 2012. ~Zuni

  14. Rett, so sorry to here of your fall!! I know how you feel - I torn my groin muscles 3 weeks ago and have had such a battle to finish shopping, wrap gifts, decorate the house and prepare food while limping around. Really this was nothing compared to my husband...last night (Boxing Day night) he had a massive allergic reaction to something (we think it may be oysters) and ended up spending the night in hospital. He has been in bed all day today so I'm hoping he improves a lot by morning!! Here's to a great New Year!!

  16. I knew that if I put that out there, someone would remind me who's blog it was! I am going to go and edit my post because I wanted to give you credit for the song, but couldn't remember who (I read way too many posts!!!!) Thanks for the remembrance. I am sooo sorry to hear about your accident. I am glad nothing is broken. I hate those kinds of things, but hey wasn't it wonderful to see others pitch in and help. Hope you weren't in too much pain to enjoy Christmas!

  17. Everything looks so festive, thank goodness you had it all done. Now you can sit with your leg up on a stool and enjoy looking at it. I think I have that same polka dot red jar...is it old? Mine is.
    Love your new pitcher!
I hope you are feeling better day by day!
I am so happy you are ok, to enjoy your filet mignon another day!

  20. Rett, I'm just now reading this. So sad you had this happen. Glad to know that you are healing. Suppose you are lucky you didn't break a bone or have that glass do more damage than it did. You must be sore! Know that I am thinking about you and wishing you a speedy recovery. ~ Sarah
