Get Your Flu Shots!!!!!

I have been soooo sick this week!
Its going on 5 days now & I'm STILL suffering, gang!

Truly, this illness is the spawn of the devil.
Who else but Satan would give you a horrific cough AND diarrhea at the same time?

Holy Mother of God, I've never run so fast in all my life.

You'd have thought my clothes were on fire or I was trying to catch a bus!

I thought I had hit upon the right combination of
heavy drugs (legal) & alcohol (cough syrup)
yesterday but the fix was only temporary.

All the symptoms have returned with a vengeance this morning.
I want to be like Ichabod Crane,
the Headless Horseman in
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow &
just carry my poor aching head around under my arm.
I'm sure it is no where near as heavy as it feels.

Sleep is out of the question when the other side of the bed
is shaking so heavily from either snoring or coughing.

I should move to the guest room but I'm afraid DH will need me.
Like I'm in any shape to do HIM any good????

I could probably crawl to the phone faster than he could
but with my memory loss lately,
I wouldn't be able to find the #11 if I tried to dial 911.

Excuse me while I go open yet ANOTHER box of tissues.
My garbage can this week will be labeled in RED....Warning: TOXIC BIO-HAZARD!!

What else can I say but "GET YOUR FLU SHOTS!"

I don't know if this is seasonal flu, chicken (bird) or the other white meat....pork (swine) but its awful.

I'm going to miss tennis & Smock & Talk this week as well as my Quilting group.

I wouldn't wish this on my ex-husband let alone risk
giving it to my sewing friends!!

EDIT to say this is a repeat of a blog post I did last year at just about the same time of year.
It still applies ...I always get sick after Thanksgiving! Too many hugs & kisses, I think.
I was feeling too lousy to re-do it much.
I'll be back to posting when I'm less contagious.

  1. At least you haven't lost your sense of humor through all of this crud! Poor baby! Get better, Rett! I'm saying a prayer for you both RIGHT NOW!!

  2. Oh dear, you sound simply miserable. At least you've kept your sense of humor through it. I hope you are feeling better soon.

  3. Rett, I'm so sad you are having to deal with all this misery and had to cancel your sewing group. Doesn't sound like any fun is happening at your house this weekend. Hope you two get back to your normal self SOON. I'm glad you can have a sense of humor about this. Take care. ~ Sarah

  4. Oh I am so sorry...I hope you get to feeling better soon!!!

Thanks for stopping by and entering my giveway...I wish you the best of luck with the drawing!!!

    Get well soon!!!

  5. Oh God bless you both!!!
It's terrible to be sick. Sorry you are. Your sense of humor is uplifting!!!

I'm still sick and keep hoping and praying I'll be all better soon. I had my nose swabbed and it's for sure NOT the swine flu. With asthma when I get a head cold, I'm knocking on heaven's door.

Almost two weeks to the day, I had my flu shot I am sick as ever. Disappointed.

    Be well soon,

  6. I am so sorry you are so sick...I understand that sick really means you want to cry!!
Hopefully you are on the other side of it and will be well soon!

  7. I'm glad to see you have a sense of humor through out all of this.. My grandson was sent home on Tues. due to the flu.. thankfully he's feeling much better now... hope both of you get to feeling better soon...hugs ~lynne~

  8. Oh dear Rett, I hope you're feeling better by now. I can't believe your wonderful sense of humor through it all. ((hugs))

Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my blog, I really appreciate them. xo

  9. Oh boy! Hope better days are coming.
I am sick too, but just the cough, sneeze, throat ears so far..
But sick enough to cancel my trip to my favorite store and cancel my monthly cut and color! Now that is sick!
    Get well wishes to you!

  10. I probably shouldn't be laughing at your expense so I apologize now, but, this is one of the funniest posts I have read all week. You poor things! AND, I can't believe that you were this sick yet still found the time to post a beautiful comment on my blog...what an amazing person. Thanks very much and please feel better soon. Best wishes, NM.

  11. Oh gosh, I hate to hear you have both been so sick. Everyone around here is getting the Tamiflu as soon as symptoms appear, and it seems to really help most people. My granddaughter had a very light case of the flu.

  12. I'm sorry you have been so sick! I hope you are well on your way to recovery by now!

    Take care!

  13. Rett...get better you ever use Airborne? It's a tablet that you dissolve in a glass of water and believe me, it helps. I've had 3 colds since the end of September and I truly believe that the Airborne suppressed them all. It has zinc gluconate in it and that does the trick. Also, get Imodium...that is a true miracle drug. Hugs.

  14. Oh dear!! It's bad when you have to do a repeat of a flu post.

My mother suffered like the dickens this year too, and she had HAD a flu shot. I can only imagine if she hadn't.

I hope you feel better very soon.

Thank you so much for leaving a comment. I read them all & each one is so very special to me & I try really hard to return the visit!
