Hurry Up, Spring!

This is the view out my sunroom windows, towards the gazebo.
Pretty to look at, but I was happy to stay indoors & QUILT!
We got almost 10" of snow last week & it was bitter cold...down to 4º at times.

This photo was taken very early the next morning,
just as the sun was coming up.
At least the walkway was cleared!

I loved seeing the little snowcap on my lantern & staff.

As I said, I've been inside, quilting up a storm.
I completed the quilting of this lovely *Bear Paw* pattern quilt
on my Innova longarm for my friend Nicole.

Then I was privileged to quilt her daughter, Maria's first quilt as well.
She joined an online swap of *Dr. Who* blocks &
this was the darling result!
So fun to do...I stitched around each applique
then did swirls in the backgrounds of them.

All the sashings got stars & circles,
since Dr. Who is a celestial time traveler,
or so I was told.

The view of the back shows off the piano key border
that I did all along the outside edges.

My husband's grandchildren are now having babies,
so I put TWO of the SuzyBee Growth Charts
side by side, on the long arm frame & quilted them
both at the same time.

One is going to Chicago to his son Tom's boy's baby &
the other to his Tom's daughter's first baby in California,
both due in June.

I am now working on some quilted pillows for my sister in Maui
(photos soon)  as well as a
turquoise & white Hunters Star quilt,
using Deb Tucker's ruler.

I sure am looking forward to Spring, though!
Today's temps are near 60º & I'm going out for a walk!
I hope the sun is shining today where you live.
Thanks for stopping by The Gazebo House.

  1. How lovely to see a post from you, Rett! You HAVE been busy! The grow charts are very sweet - I can imagine that the new parents will be thrilled to receive them.
We have no snow up here - just a whole lot of rain. A nice clean cover of snow wouldn't be amiss - for a few hours!

  2. Rett, that bear paw quilt is very striking, it would be hard to give it back to the owner! The growth charts are adorable. You are very talented.
I ♥♥♥ the pictures of the snow, it looks so peaceful. I don't mind snow, but hate ice. We had one tiny storm that didn't even leave enough to hide the ugly brown grass...we really need the moisture, too.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

  5. What adorable gifts for the new babies. It's always fun to see your quilting projects. You have been a busy lady! No snow here in TX, but today was gray and overcast. It's been beautiful here this past week with temps in the 70s and sunny skies. My iris are blooming and the red bud trees are budding out.

  9. Hello, Rett...I haven't stopped by the Gazebo House since last September. My what a long visit I have had with you! It is always a real joy to see your tablescapes. I love your newest collection.

You have been so busy with your quilts and Innovis...isn't he fun to play with! Spring is happening under the snow...the snow melted near my sons foundations and little tulips are peeking thru. That is another nice about snow, the surprise we find when it melts.

  10. What a perfect way to use your time so creatively, Rett, while your Ohio weather was so bitter cold! Your friends must be thrilled that you were able to use your long arm to finish their quilts for them. The growth charts are just darling and what a thoughtful gift! I look forward to see what you are doing for your sister. Maybe you'll fly to Maui to deliver the finished product? I hope so!!

  13. Hello. I just found your blog today and I wanted to say I'm so impressed. I can't wait to go back and look at all your "older posts".
I tried to email you by clicking on the Gazebo picture for emailing. It tells me that I am "Not synced yet" I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do to get "synced" but I have a question I will ask you here if that's ok. I absolutely love your Bowl that has three curvey sections that you used for a 4th of July celebration.. I am wondering if you have any hints as to where I might find one. Please advise if you can.

    1. Thank you, Micki, for your kind words! I'm guessing the bowl you are referring to came from Crate & Barrel but it was a long time ago. I just went to their site to see if there was anything similar available & it doesn't look like it. I'm sorry to disappoint you. Perhaps you might find one at a resale store or a charity donation site?
I don't understand why you couldn't use my email gazebo link. I will investigate that & try to fix it. Thanks for letting me know about the glitch!
