♥♥♥ A Smoothie in New Stemware ♥♥♥
First & foremost, I want to lift in prayers the people of Boston & West, TX...in fact, our whole nation, as we recover from yet another horrific incident. *sigh* My heart aches for the people injured & for the families who lost their loved ones.
I had this post ready to go before I left to care for my sister.
It seems so frivolous to be *playing with dishes* now but if
we don't carry on with our lives, then we've given in to them,
and I refuse!
I bought some pretty pink *bubble* stemmed glasses recently.
Just to have a reason to show them off, I made one of my
favorite fruit smoothies...Blueberry Banana!!
1 small container of fat free blueberry yogurt
1/2 of a small banana..(DH gets the other half on his cereal)
a large handful of frozen blueberries (from my sister's bushes)
Blend it all together with just a splash of skim milk so it mixes well. For the photo, I added a dollop of whipped cream but I
don't usually do that. I just wanted to make it pretty for YOU!
I went outside, looking for some mint sprigs to use, but they are not up yet.
That was when I decided to cut some of my hyacinths to add to the tray. Brilliant idea...now I need to go find my antihistamines again! ACHOO!!! I must be allergic to them.
Aren't the stems pretty? They remind me of champagne bubbles....hey, I wonder what THAT would taste like in it?? Hmmmmm...I may create a new 'breakfast of champions'
Just kidding!
Thank you for all your prayers & good thoughts this week.
My sister Fritzie is doing quite well after her knee surgery.
So well, in fact, that she chased me home.
She is doing much better than my husband did after his, but she is a full decade younger than he was when he had his knee replacement done.
I sure hope I never need one!! Ugh!
I'm linking to Cuisine Kathleen's Let's Dish party &
The Tablescaper's Seasonal Sunday, too.

ReplyDeleteI know how you're feeling, so down in the heart with what happened but also feeling we must move on with our lives or they will have won.
I'm glad that your sister is doing so well. That is major surgery. She's lucky to have you to nurse her back to health.
Love your new goblets. I can see lots of creations in those.

Wow, you're sister must be doing well to chase you home already! Good for her!! Your nursing skills must've done the trick.
ReplyDeleteYour new stemware is such a beauty and your smoothie looks so pretty and tasty. Thanks for adding the dollop of cream.
I'll bet your DH is happy that you're home.
He was SO excited to see me, Kitty...he was waiting at the door with a big grin on his face & lots of hugs & kisses. He did okay on his own but I know he hates being alone. I think my sister was more worried about him than I was!
ReplyDeleteHooray that your sister is on the mend!!! She bounced back like a red rubber ball, didn't she? Wow! That's great!
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty new stemware, and you picked the perfect thing to show the stemware off! Banana and blueberries...mmmmmm, that sounds good! And your sister has a bush right there in her yard with blueberries on it? I guess I never just thought that people had actual blueberry bushes. I don't know where I thought they came from...deep in the woods somewhere? Too many Nancy Drew books as a kid! :-)
I agree with you, Rett...if we let these bullies stop us from enjoying the lives we have built and deserve to live, then we are bowing to their terrorism. We all have very heavy hearts right now, but we have to keep going. It's hard, especially for those closest to it, but resilience is what makes this world go round.
I saw your response to Kitty, and it's so sweet that your husband missed you so much!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteYes, the people in Boston and West have been on my mind too.
ReplyDeleteYour stems are beautiful!!
Oh la la, love those new glasses! I bought a Ninja last summer to make smoothies for the gkids. Used it once so far, must get it out so I remember. Out of sight out of my mind! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad your sister is doing better. I will keep her in my prayers. Please say a prayer for my sister and niece, they are having a rough go of it. So hard to lose a child!
We saw our 5 yesterday, went in for Gparents day for #3 and 4, then watched the baby awhile for dil. By 2 30 all 5 were home and the bedlam began. We left, long drive home, as we had left at 7 to get there in time in the traffic.
So today, we did nada! Well, I cooked dinner, and that's about it!
Thanks for linking up! Come visit and I will Ninja you a smoothie! Can we have cookies with it?
My heart goes out to all those affected by these tragedies. It seems to go on and on. I don't understand, putting a bomb next to a child!
The goblet is pretty and what's in it looks very yummy. Pretty photo too.
ReplyDeleteGlad your sister is doing so well Rett! Your smoothie looks beautiful in your pink bubble stem glasses! I have a smoothie several times a week, I need to upgrade from my plastic cup :)
ReplyDeleteThose stems are so pretty with the bubbles, Rett. The smoothie looks so yummy...Christine
ReplyDeleteHi Rett! I have never seen PINK bubble glasses. Wish I had some! The smoothie sounds delicious!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteDo you know that (gasp!) I have never had a smoothie? They have always struck me as possibly too rich, but yours with fat-free yogurt and skim milk wouldn't be. My daughter enjoys them - discovered smoothies when she lived in Vancouver on her own. I think I'd be happy to have anything in that pretty glass you've shown!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your sister is on the mend. I hope she is 100% back on her feet soon.
