Did you know that January was "National Hot Tea Month"?
This beautiful teacup with matching infuser & lid from TEAVANA, was one of my birthday gifts that month.
Thank you, Sisters!
I just LOVE how it makes having a single cup of tea such a special experience.
It says the Ume blossom on the cup is the beloved symbol of hope in Asian art. Where there is still snow on the ground, the Ume blossom first blooms, signifying the coming Spring. Hurry Up!!!
I was told that if you have a smart phone,
I have a *dumb phone*...
(wish you could have heard Ms. C. laugh at THAT comment!)

What will they think of next?
One recent study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that substances in tea may even promote weight loss by increasing the amount of energy spent by the body. The theory is that green tea, because of the catechin (pronounced "cat E kins") content, has thermogenic properties that promote fat oxidation, may work together with other chemicals to increase weight loss.
I've been drinking hot tea all my life &
it sure ain't workin' here!!!
I just had a cup with a Hostess *Snowball*…haven’t had one of those in YEARS, but I saw the GREEN & had to get it for St. Patrick’s Day.
Aren't these cute???
Our FAVORITE tea!
You put some loose tea down inside the infuser then set it in the cup & pour boiling water over the tea leaves. When it is as dark as you like it, you remove the strainer...over the sink, to be safe & your hot tea is ready!
Okay, break time is over...back to getting out the GREEN for Cuisine Kathleen's party on the 13th!
Hope to see you there!
I'll also be joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for her Table Top Tuesday,
Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for her Tablescape Thursday,
Michael Lee at Rattlebridge Farm for Foodie Friday,
and The Tablescaper for her Seasonal Sundays.
Please visit each of them so you don't miss out on seeing what pretty things others are doing!
How adorable are those green snowballs. Haven't had one of those in years. I just love St. Paddy's Day!
ReplyDeleteD
I saw the green Snowballs too! Glad you shared one with us in Blogland, we can all split the calories that way:@)
ReplyDeleteI really like that cup. I am glad my husband didn't see the snowballs...I already have Oreos calling me from the freezer!!
ReplyDeleteYou FREEZE Oreos???? I never thought of doing that!! Might just slow me down a tad...good idea, CK
DeleteI would love to get a smart phone but I don't think my poor old brain can handle trying to learn another new thing right now. Wordpress has all my brains cells working over time at the moment. I have to admit that I do like those snowballs too and would love one with a cup of tea right now. I must look to see if I can find a sweet little shamrock before St. Paddy's Day. See you at Kathleen's on the 13th!
ReplyDeleteRett, I love your tea cup. While I am a devotee of tea, I don't worry too much about the measuring the water temperature. I'm a fan of using Mr. Coffee to heat my water for tea; hey, it works for me! lol Those green snowballs are cute and I love your St. Patrick's Day setting including the shamrock. I laughed out loud when you "dissed" the thermogenic, weight-burning effects of drinking hot tea! ha ha ha! I adore this post, Rett!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd rather have a Shamrock shake, thank you! Tea and I do not get along. Green snowballs and me either. lol
ReplyDeleteRett, I haven't had a snowball in years and never had a green one. Really cute shamrock! Looking forward to your St. Patrick's Day post. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteI've got a "dumb" phone too Rett, its all I can do to keep up with the Ipad adding a smart phone to it would probably put me on Xanax. I don't care of tea but I sure do love your piece. Oh and if you look at my St. Patrick's day thread from last year you will see something very familiar to yours this year. Great minds think alike I guess, I'll bring a diet coke and we can share the green snowballs, OK?
ReplyDeleteI juse went back to your St. Patrick's Day post from last year & I saw your green snowballs!! Too funny...here, I thought I had discovered something new. I'm always a day late. LOL
DeleteI love Irish Breakfast Tea!
ReplyDeleteEveryone in my family has a smart phone but me! I have a blackberry that suits me fine for work and keeping in touch on the road.
I have a dumb phone too. In fact, I'm nearly positive that I have a blonde phone.
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you that I just laughed out loud, literally, as I was reading this and got to the Hostess snowball. I just loved that you prefaced it with the talk about hot tea making you lose weight.
I'll just have to give it a try. Green tea to counterbalance the green snowball. Bet there's an APP for that on my blonde phone.
Yes, I saw the irony of that statement later, after posting. LOL Probably a good reason the tea isn't working! LOL
DeletePhotos as always candy for this Irish lady ....lovely angles and your green tea ...welllllll
ReplyDeleteHi Rett
ReplyDeleteAll the tea I've had over the years hasn't helped me lose weight either! Maybe it's all the cookies I had with the tea. Speaking of which, pop over for tea next Tuesday, I've baked something especially for you.
Your St. Patrick's Day table runner is nice, I'll bet you have theme runners for every occasion. I've never seen the green snowballs here, they look pretty neat though.
Judith
Your birthday gift tea cup is so pretty, Rett! However, I REALLY want one of those snowballs!! I haven't had one in years, but I sure used to LOVE them (oh, the good old days!!). I drink tea every single day...where's the weight loss??!! Check out my post on Skinny Muffin in a Cup...maybeif I ate one of those everyday, it might work!! HA!!
ReplyDeleteI don't drink tea but that tea mug is BEAUTIFUL!!!What a nice gift. Love your table setting too and the snowballs look good. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteLove your tea infuser! I just had a cup of Tazo's green tea with lemongrass and spearmint - delicious!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried that flavor, Susan. I'm putting it on my grocery list...thanks for the heads-up!
DeleteThis is a wonderful marriage of Asia and Ireland! It really works!!!! Hey...I haven't seent the green Hostess snowballs around here yet. I'll have to go ask specifically for them so I can slip one into my husband's lunch next week. I don't let him eat a lot of sweets (although I KNOW he sneaks them at work from the vending machine!), but he'll enjoy this. As for the properties in tea that help with weight loss, hasn't worked on me, either! :-) Maybe we're drinking it wrong! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the snow balls. I don't think I've ever seen them in green.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you'll be joining Seasonal Sundays.
- The Tablescaper
As my NY friend above said, I don't think we have green snowballs here! Thanks for all the info on the tea. I just throw the bags in the pot and let it steep. You are so fancy!
ReplyDeleteI have a dumb phone too, good name as it reflects the owner! :)
Thanks for the shout out! I treated myself for my birthday yesterday to some faux Belleek at CTS. I NEEDED them! :)
Happy Belated Birthday, Kathleen!! I hope you had a wonderfully special day, surrounded by lots of family & friends.
DeleteHugs to you, my friend!
Rett,
ReplyDeleteHi! What will they come up with next. Love your tea cup and Shamrock snowballs. I just got some Irish Breakfast tea to try.
Pat
Rett~ I just saw those green snowballs yesterday and picked up a package to go in my SIL's St. Pat's gift basket. I thought they were a hoot! I love your gifted tea cup!
ReplyDeleteI've had my smart phone for about 6 months now & never felt so dumb~
P.S. I'm drinking all the green tea I can, said with a bite of cinnamon roll :)
Rett, What a pretty tea cup. Thanks for all of your tea tips! I only wish I liked tea as much as I LOVE coffee. I have a smart phone, but it makes me feel dumb! I only use a little of its capabilities.
ReplyDeleteThat snowball takes me back!!!! Such a pretty scape. The placemat is too pretty to use! It should be a picture instead.
xo Yvonne
Thanks for the visit and nice comments. I have been in FL for 1 1/2 years now and mostly I love it! Thanks for sharing your tea tips! I haven't seen a hostess snowball in years!
