Black & White & Green String Quilt

Several years ago, my sweet quilting friend, Doris & fellow member of our Needle Jabber's sewing group in Venice, FL, gave me her leftover strips of fabric after she completed a really cute black & white & yellow quilt for her DGS. I saved those scraps for YEARS, always intending to create something similar.

While talking to another dear quilting friend, MamaCJT , she generously offered to stitch the strips together with some awesome green. She did a terrific job & also made a pillow to go with the quilt.

Thank you to BOTH my friends for this beautiful happy quilt full of friendship & memories!

  1. Gosh, how *striking* that is, Retta!

It looks like a God's Eye pattern, substituting that brilliant green for the black (which wouldn't work at all with the other fabrics!). It's amazing how making a change in colors like that gives you a completely different looking quilt.

I don't think I would have thought of using monochromatic fabrics for the strips and another color for the central strip, but now I have another variation to consider!

That is just a beautiful quilt and pillow!

  2. I will make sure my quilting friend, Mamacjt, gets to read your sweet comments. I just LOVE this quilt! It rests on the back of the sofa in my sewing room & I pull it down over my lap whenever I sit there to hand sew or smock something. Its just the right size!

  3. Rett, this is a beautiful quilt. I love the green with the black and white. I love the way one can play with fabrics to get such different looks. That's part of the fun of quilting.
I'm off to read some more of your blog. I'm having a great time! ~ Sarah
