OLD TIME Pottery

P2220015

Last week, Susan from Between Naps on The Porch, did a post about some of her sponsors. I remembered shopping with my dear friend Barb L. at OLD TIME Pottery when I lived in FL, so I followed Susan's link in her post, just to see if they had an online store.

Imagine my surprise to learn that we had an OTP right here in Ohio...THREE, in fact! This place is like crack for a dishaholic, honest.

P2220016

This is what greets you when you first walk in the door! Tons & tons of gorgeous faux botanicals in every color imaginable. My eyes were just dancing in every direction, thinking of all the wreaths & Easter decor I could work magic with supplies like these.

P2220017

Easter items were in abundance...these made me smile right back at them.

I thought the prices were wonderful, too!

P2220032

P2220018

Just look at all these GORGEOUS colors! I was thinking how cute these T-lite jars would be, hanging out in the gazebo for a summer party.

P2220022

Lots & LOTS of dishes in many different styles & boy, if you ever wanted WHITE ones, you had your pick. Just look at these aisles...wall to wall white, on BOTH sides!

P2220028

I loved all the kitchen items, casseroles dishes, pie plates, cutlery, serving pieces...you name it, they have it.

P2220020

I found cookies cutters, MORE cute cupcake liners (just what I needed) and some fun kitchen gadgets. I ♥♥♥ kitchen gadgets!

P2220025

Now you KNOW some of these DARLING RED polka-dot pieces came home with me!

P2220026

The lady behind me in the check out aisle told me she had them & they were wonderful...cleaned up easily & still looked nice after heavy usage. I'm planning on making steak & mushroom pot pies today in some of them!

P2220027

Can you believe these rooster salad plates were only $1.49 each???? If they had been white instead of cream, I would have snagged a ton of them. I still may!

P2220021

All these Happy~ Happy colors had my ♥ going pitter-patter! Their displays are almost overwhelming. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, as you're on bare concrete floors the whole time!

P2220019

P2220024

I'm now kicking myself for not picking up any of the lovely blue & white pieces you see here. I immediately thought of Cherry Kay and all her pretty blue & white! I think I have to go back!

P2220029

I did stock up on candles for my dining room. Some were less that the .50 price you see here. I got beautiful cream ones for .39 apiece! We go through a LOT of candles around here!

P2220031

I was wishing these damask pillows had been black & white instead of the gold, copper & blue. Now that I see the photo, I LOVE the pale blue ones! I KNOW I'm going back now!

P2220030

I did pick up ONE (what was I thinking???) of these GORGEOUS silk pillows. I'm pretty sure it is *Canadian smocking*. Its more like the lotus pattern & it is lovely. I was thinking in terms of gift giving but once I put it on my sofa, I don't want to part with it. I think I need several more & at THAT price they won't last long.

I told Susan to let her sponsor, OLD TIME Pottery, know that advertising on her site worked! Thanks for linking them in your post. My trunk was FULL when I left & I know it will be after a return trip as well.

Thanks for coming along on my shopping trip. I hope you can find a store like this near you. Their big 26th Anniversary sale starts March 8th. I can't wait!

Hugs, Rett

I'll be joining The Tablescaper for her

I'll join Susan for her

Come on over & see what others are doing!

Pink & Purple this time!

DSC_0342
I used my new pink Bordallo Pinneiro bowls again this week,
mostly because I haven't found a place to store them yet!
It was easier to just wash them & put them back on the table.

Like Marty at A Stroll Thru Life says
"I think I need an intervention!!"

The white dinner plates with the soft pink & purple flowers
are by Pfaltzgraff.

They were $1 apiece at a local thrift store & they only had 6
but that works nicely for this table.

My lilac tree is blooming outside the gazebo for the first time!

What a HEAVENLY fragrance!

I cut just a few branches & mixed them with

pink carnations, baby's breath & purple statice in my large white ironstone pitcher.

DSC_0343
I would have cut armloads if I could but you have to trim carefully to maintain the shape of the tree. Its not the usual, huge bush that we remember from Grandma's era.

My Napoleon Bee glassware by La Rochere that I won

from Taste & Twirl...
(thank you Libby) goes BEEutifully with my

Napoleon Bee flatware from Horchow

which is on SALE, by the way, until May 19th.

I found the little candlestick flower arrangers on Ebay

after seeing Diann's on her blog, The Thrifty Groove.

I have a large one for a centerpiece that I use often.

You can see it done up with yellow roses here.

I found this lovely serving platter, below,

with its pretty curved edges at T.J. Maxx
for only $10 last week.

I love the lacey textured look of the edges!

DSC_0352

I'm thinking it will look great with roasted asparagus or perhaps a medley of grilled vegetables.

(if it ever stops raining long enough for us to use the grill!)

Just playing around with Photoscape!

I know you don't light candles in the middle of the day.

Martha Stewart says you should never put a candle on the table

that doesn't have the wick somewhat burned already.

You should always have a candle wick blackened from use if it is on display.

Another bit of advice,

when I go shopping, I ALWAYS check out the clearance aisles first.

I find so many bargains that add nice little

extra special touches to my tables.

A perfect example are these beautifully embroidered sheer organza napkins.

There were 4 in a pack & only 2 packs available, one being 1/2 torn open.

They were marked down to $4 per pack.

That's $1 per napkin!

DSC_0362

Aren't they GORGEOUS?!

They remind me of a bride's veil.

Used as an overlay to a heavier, more absorbent napkin, they add a delicate bit of whimsy.

They'll be even prettier over softly colored napkins.

On a side table, since May is the Blessed Virgin's month,
I tucked one of the pink carnations into a bud vase
with some of my Lily of the Valley.
I can remember my mother always placing flowers by her statue,
to honor Mary.
I do the same every year, in memory of both these special Mothers.

Thank you for stopping by The Gazebo House.
I hope you have lots of beautiful flowers blooming where you live.

Favorite Cupboard Party at Shelia's!

DSC_0285

I'm joining the lovely Shelia,

author of the blog,

Note Songs

for her

featuring your favorite cupboard.

She said baker's racks could be included

so I'm sharing my favorite corner

which sits between the kitchen & the sunroom.

It is so fun to decorate for the seasons &

I am SOOOOO ready for some Spring!

DSC_0290

I gathered lots of green & white accessories from elsewhere in the house.

The teapot was recently given to me by my younger sister, Louise.

It goes beautifully with my Lily of the Valley teacup.

"Thanks, Weeziebug!"

The green salad plates in the little stands were made in Portugal.

I recently found them at T.J. Maxx for $3.99 each

I also got the matching salad bowl while there.

Some silk hydrangeas add a touch of greenery.

I had a bag of limes in the refrigerator.

I bought them to serve with Sante Fe Chicken Chili & had some leftover...

the limes, not the chili.

I'll have to share that recipe with you soon.

It is REALLY good!

DSC_0301

My little birdie is sitting on my husband's mother's

worn & tattered old cookbook.

Published in 1936, it has some really interesting recipes.

DSC_0289

The part I treasure is where, on the inside flap, my hubby had written

"Mom,

wake me for 9:00 Mass.

Ernie x"

How sweet is that?

He is such a devout Catholic, even to this day.

We figured he must have been about 10 years old

when he wrote that note.

DSC_0292

DSC_0293

I've used lots of my white dishes along with some vintage milk glass pieces.

I was excited to find this one with its lid intact.

DSC_0297

I love the intricate details & texture on them.

I remember several pieces that my mother had years ago.

DSC_0294

More Portuguese ceramics with lots of texture.

DSC_0299

DSC_0298

Since Easter is late this year,

I'm going to leave my green & white in place

then I'll add my bunnies & eggs to the mix

closer to April 24th.

DSC_0285

It looks a little more Spring like now.

If only Mother Nature would cooperate outside!

Thanks for stopping by The Gazebo House.

You're welcome anytime!
